What is the visioning process? To some extent, that is a question that only you can answer. It will become what we make it become. The idea is for us to engage in a process of deep conversation, sharing with each other and our leadership what it is we hope for, how we wish to be connected to this community, and what future we have together. We are asking questions about these broad ideas in order to understand our aspirations as a community. We have five core facilitators who attended a training session with Rev. Jeanylese Doran Adams and have been refining the questions and the processes we will use in these conversations. The five facilitators are Randy Luvaas, Nancy Born, Linda King, Susan Kaphammer, and Rev. Ken Jones. Any of them are happy to talk with you about this process. The plan will be to have as many conversations as we can over the next few months, both in small groups and one-on-one or directly with whole families – we definitely want our young people to contribute to our conversations. Each conversation will have a facilitator, and a scribe.The notes will be compiled and reviewed by the team and Rev. Adams. We will gather as a congregation in the fall to review what we have learned and capture the essence of the conversations into a guiding principle – as Rev. Adams says, identifying our “North Star.” The North Star is the point of reference that guides us on our journey, that point of light in a dark star that provides an unchanging reminder of where we’re going and helps to chart our course.
