Liberal religious community begins with a covenant — an agreement for people to be together.  That sounds simple enough, but there are many layers of agreements that we all experience in any social group.  Some of these agreements are spoken, some are written, and some are informal and almost invisible.

We believe that religious community calls us to be our best selves, and in that UUCY has adopted the following Healthy Relations Covenant:

We promise to:

  • Treat each other with kindness
  • Celebrate each other’s spiritual growth
  • Listen deeply to others
  • Speak with courage and humility
  • Share the ministry of this congregation

These are fairly simple promises, but to live them in our everyday lives is often a challenge, particularly when we disagree with another person. We try to remind ourselves of these covenants frequently and lovingly engage with each other in striving to live them every day.
