Outdoor In-person Sunday Service

UPDATE as of AUGUST 14:

To Members and Friends of UUCY:

We have announced a tentative plan to hold an outdoor in-person Sunday Service, to take place on church grounds on August 30th. Since such a service will require a fair amount of preparation (including a State-mandated written pre-opening plan, and preparation and setup of the lawn area), we wanted to find out how many people planned to attend before making a final decision.

If you are planning to attend, please reply via email to admin@uucyakima.org no later than Thursday, August 20.

If you have any questions, please contact Bill Jacobs at 945-0790, thank you!

At its most recent monthly meeting, the Sunday Services Committee decided to schedule an outdoor service on church grounds for August 30th. This will provide an opportunity for those who wish to see their church friends “in person” to do so. Details follow:

1.
We will follow Phase 1.5 religious organization guidelines. In addition to masks, we will require 6 foot social distancing. (Sorry, no hugs, no hand shaking.)
2.
Chairs will be set up on the lawn between the RE wing and 2nd Street, spaced 6 feet apart. (Folks living in the same household will be permitted to move chairs closer together.)
3.  Bill Jacobs will facilitate the service with the help of Susan Gallegos, and it will feature Chalice lighting, a brief message, and Joys and Concerns.  (Sorry, no singing!)

One question you may have is whether this gathering is safe, particularly for “at-risk” individuals (which includes most of us, if only just by age.) We think it will be, so long as everybody complies with the rules, but please do not attend if you do not feel comfortable doing so. (As always at UUCY, we guarantee, double your money back, that missing a church service will not lengthen your time in Purgatory.)
